iPhone 3G/3Gs Component Layout and Details
Did you ever wonder what the different connectors and system components do on the iPhone?  This solution is dedicated to explaining the purpose of major connectors.  This can be helpful during reassembly or if you have a particular symptom that can be tied back to a connector.  Use this page as a reference for understanding the iPhone system components.
There are 3 main components assembled to make an iPhone 3G/3Gs.  These are the system board, case assembly, and touch screen glass.  The battery is located in the bottom shell of the case assembly and is mounted with a double-sided tape.  The main difference between an iPhone 3G and the 3Gs is an additional connector on the system board (not shown here).
